So, i'm 18 years old in under a week.
This prospect scares me. I remember not worrying about buying clothes, worrying about choices made or wherer the next dollar was going to come from. I loved not having a care in the world. The prospect of me growing up finally hit me when i saw the facebook fan page 'I remember when the hardest choice i had to make was choosing what colour crayon to use next'. It really made me reflect how much we change as human beings over time. How much we learn. We go from being this baby. Unable to even lift our neck, unable to talk, to understand, to think for ourselves, to these characters and personalities who create life, design humoungous erganomic structures, who think, philosophize, live. We have our own little world around us.
Humanity is brilliant in the sense that we are our own little world. We surround ourselves with things we want, and effectively create our lives. We are who we are and nobody else is the same as you. We are individual. There are 6.8 billion other individuals. This is the life we live now. You can read this and either see life as being small and insignificant, or magnicifently enourmous. We are tiny, and yet so large.
A life in transit.

The Dark Side Of Happiness.
So, today i played guitar and sang in front of about 1000 people. This was amazing in the sense that, i love playing music. This makes me happy. I do this because it makes me happy. Thats all humanity really wants though, isn't it? To be happy. And we, as a race, will stop at nothing to achieve happiness.
This is bad.
This is the reason for all the struggle, all the hate, all the war and all the negativity we face as a global society. This "toss our brothers / sisters aside" ideal that we currently hold is slowly destroying the world. We all want to be the best we can be. We do not, however, think about the lives we may be disadvantaging, or even ruining, in the process. A perfect example of this is how Kevin Rudd was recently treated by the ALP (or Australian Labor Party). Our leader, the man Australia voted in, was recently relieved of his job by the people that should have supported him in this time of crysis. The ALP were HIS comrades. Some people didn't agree with some things that Kevin was doing, so the first thing that popped into the parties heads were, lets get rid of this 'problem'. Kevin Rudd was not, however, the problem. The ALP is run as a group. They make decisions as a group. They are ONE party, not many different ministers. They should not have been able to just place the blame on Kevin Rudd, but, Julia Gillard saw this as an opportunity to achieve a 'greater level of happiness'. She thought, "Why not be the PM of Australia?"
After all the statements she had made about how there was never a possibility of her taking the top job, she jumped on the idea. Tossed mr. Rudd away like common garbage and stole that hapiness that she should have let go.
This situation is replicated every day. In our offices. In our companies. In our playgrounds. Everywhere in society. All because humanity wants to be that little more happy.
Now, I'm not saying don't strive to achieve happiness. Thats all well and good. I'm not going stop myself from doing what i love to do best. All i am saying is don't be greedy.
So yeah, thanks for reading.
Josh.

Realisation #1
Identity is forever changing.
You understand who you are when your life has finally come to rest at some happy medium. You are jubilant with what you are doing with yourself and what position in the world you find yourself in. This is the achievement of happiness. This 'final' realisation of who you are.
But then it changes. It HAS to change. We as the human race have no choice in the matter. A negative event immeadiately changes your outlook on life. It could be so big, like the death of a loved one, or so miniscule like a bad mark on a test that it affects how you would normally interact with the world. This affliction changes who you are, what you do, how you behave. You are no longer the happy, content person you were before the event. Your outlook on life is now that of a changed person. After this calamity you are forever changed. You will never go back to being the same person.
But this is not neccesarily a bad thing. You learn from your mistakes. You re-achieve the this equilibium that humanity searches for every single moment of you life. You achieve happiness.
And then it changes all over again.
This post is pretty much my realisation on how the world works. Sure, the length of the calm may differ, but you will ALWAYS end up back in that rut that life so often sticks you in. If you think about it, you start of with life, that happy calm in your life and you end in death. You end in non-existence. You end in that event that ruins your mood. But, the thing is, when you are in this stage of distress, you will always have the ability to look forward to the hapiness that you WILL find again.
So yeah, thanks for reading.

The new kid on the blog.
So, i thought i might start myself a blog, considering it's what all the indie kids are doing these days, and the only way people are going to read stories about my life is if they find out about who i am as a person.
So to begin my blog, i'd like to tell the world a little about myself. So first of all.
G'day world, my name is Joshua Eric Peter Mark Olek, I'm 17 years old and I'm becoming a legality in 23 days. I'm the eldest of 7 kids, but only 2 of which i am directly blood related. My most favorite ones are those of which that are interested by the littlest of things, namely, my half brothers Danté (6 years old) and Orlando (3 Years old). I like to think i know my way around a guitar, and have a "enthusiastic" voice to accompany it. My life pretty much revolves around music, school and my friends. This year, i have come to the realisation that you should take your friends on the basis of you're opinion of them and the way you interact with them, not on the opinion of others. With this revelation i have become blessed with some friends that i will (hopefully) hold dear to me for the rest of my life. This year i have become more excited at the prospect of music becoming a much larger part of my life. The last 5 years i have taught myself the guitar, via the sheer awesomeness of the interwebz. This has given me the ability to really appreciate music and it has made me understand what a big role music plays in my life. This year i have recently become of a musical duet, "The Dangerous Obsessions", with my good friend Danny patience. I am genuinely really excited about the prospects of where this could go, but also wouldn't mind if it was just us jamming, because, and not to sound too cliché either, to me its about the music, but enough about that. As this is year 12 for me, this dictates who and/or what i will be/do for the rest of my life. This is why alot of my life is currently focused on how i perform at school, making it kinda important to me. Wow, i sound like a nerd... haha
So pretty much, to sum up my life,
1. I'm A member of a fairly big family
2. I love music and
3. School is balls, but it gets you where you need to go.
So if you enjoyed reading my blog, subscribe to me or follow me, whatever you do on here. This is designed to be a creative way to show who i am to not only you guys, but to myself and finally realize fully who i am as a human being.
So thanks,
Josh.
