So, today i played guitar and sang in front of about 1000 people. This was amazing in the sense that, i love playing music. This makes me happy. I do this because it makes me happy. Thats all humanity really wants though, isn't it? To be happy. And we, as a race, will stop at nothing to achieve happiness.
This is bad.
This is the reason for all the struggle, all the hate, all the war and all the negativity we face as a global society. This "toss our brothers / sisters aside" ideal that we currently hold is slowly destroying the world. We all want to be the best we can be. We do not, however, think about the lives we may be disadvantaging, or even ruining, in the process. A perfect example of this is how Kevin Rudd was recently treated by the ALP (or Australian Labor Party). Our leader, the man Australia voted in, was recently relieved of his job by the people that should have supported him in this time of crysis. The ALP were HIS comrades. Some people didn't agree with some things that Kevin was doing, so the first thing that popped into the parties heads were, lets get rid of this 'problem'. Kevin Rudd was not, however, the problem. The ALP is run as a group. They make decisions as a group. They are ONE party, not many different ministers. They should not have been able to just place the blame on Kevin Rudd, but, Julia Gillard saw this as an opportunity to achieve a 'greater level of happiness'. She thought, "Why not be the PM of Australia?"
After all the statements she had made about how there was never a possibility of her taking the top job, she jumped on the idea. Tossed mr. Rudd away like common garbage and stole that hapiness that she should have let go.
This situation is replicated every day. In our offices. In our companies. In our playgrounds. Everywhere in society. All because humanity wants to be that little more happy.
Now, I'm not saying don't strive to achieve happiness. Thats all well and good. I'm not going stop myself from doing what i love to do best. All i am saying is don't be greedy.
So yeah, thanks for reading.
Josh.
